Colleague Spotlight: Cameron Nettles

The DAISY Foundation is an international recognition program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary, compassionate and skillful care given by nurses every day. We are proud to recognize Cameron Nettles, RN, Medical Acute Care, with this special honor.
In nominating Cameron, one of her patients wrote, “She shows an extensive amount of empathy and is right on top of every task that she is required to do. I was very impressed with her bedside manner and her empathy for me and I'm sure all the patients she has. She went above and beyond the call of duty. When I asked her for anything, she was always there for me, and when she says she is going to do something, she does it. I've had many different nurses at HCA HealthONE Swedish and Cameron was by far my favorite nurse I have ever had in my entire life. I think that her actions speak louder than words, which I think is an amazing quality to have in this profession. I found out about the DAISY Award through other nurses who work here and chose to nominate Cameron out of all of them because she is the best, most prompt, and empathetic nurse that I have ever had in my life. There is not another nurse I could think of that deserves it more than she does. So, I respectfully write this as I believe that she should win this award, because I know that she is going to go on to do great things, even as compared to what she is doing today. I went through eight years of school for nursing, and I know what it takes to have the attitude to put a smile on your face and to have the empathy for your patients. There are not a lot of people in general, or in nursing, who have impressed me like she has. Within one shift of caring for me, I already knew that she needed to be recognized. When found out about this award, I knew she was perfect for it.”
