Urgent care
Urgent care provides treatment for minor conditions and illnesses that need immediate attention, but are not cause for an emergency room visit. Urgent care facilities are open beyond the hours of a typical medical practice, providing care during the day, weeknights and on weekends.

Hospital care vs. urgent care
If you are experiencing a life-threatening medical emergency, call 911 immediately.
Urgent care locations or walk-in clinics typically treat minor illnesses, such as flu or strep throat. This makes our urgent care locations ideal for treating 24-hour illnesses and other symptoms if you are unable to see your primary care doctor.
When you or a loved one is experiencing severe pain or discomfort, it can be hard to tell if you should go to your primary care physician, an urgent care clinic or the emergency room (ER). If you are experiencing a medical emergency, especially a potential heart attack or cardiac event, you should immediately go to your nearest ER, not an urgent care clinic.
When to go to an ER
You should choose to visit the nearest ER when you require immediate care or suspect a condition is life-threatening.
Conditions requiring emergency care include:
- Any concern where you feel a delay in care may have a significant impact on your health
- Broken bones
- Change in mental status, such as confusion
- Chest pain lasting two minutes or more
- Coughing or vomiting blood
- Difficulty breathing, shortness of breath or choking
- Loss of consciousness
- Severe allergic reaction
- Severe or persistent vomiting or diarrhea
- Sudden dizziness, weakness or change in vision
- Sudden or severe sprain
- Uncontrolled bleeding
