Joint care
Doctors specializing in joint care, called orthopedists, diagnose and treat problems related to your joints. They treat injuries related to bones, shoulders, knees and hips and relieve pain with joint rehabilitation or replacement. You may need to see them if you have strains, sprains, arthritis or chronic joint pain.

Types of joint care we offer
Our orthopedic specialists typically try to resolve your joint pain with noninvasive treatments before suggesting surgery. Staying active, maintaining a healthy weight and using anti-inflammatory medications may help improve pain and stiffness. Our physicians may opt for treatments such as prescription medication, arthroscopy and physical therapy.
Joint replacement surgery
Surgery may be an option if nonsurgical treatments do not improve your pain, mobility and range of motion. In such cases, we recommend minimally invasive procedures whenever possible. This includes robot-assisted surgery (sometimes called robotic surgery), which allows as to offer you faster healing and reduced scarring for a wide range of joint procedures.
Our joint doctors work with you to determine which treatment best fits your condition and lifestyle. Joint replacement surgery replaces the damaged or diseased parts of a joint with implants (prostheses), creating a healthy, like-new joint.
Our hospitals offer comprehensive programs for total joint replacements of the hips, knees, ankles and shoulders. We also offer preoperative education classes to help you prepare for surgery and rehabilitative services to help you recover afterward.
Ankle replacement
An ankle replacement involves the surgeon removing the ends of the damaged bones and replacing them with implants. The artificial joint will help your ankle move freely without pain.
Hip replacement
During total hip replacement surgery, or total hip arthroplasty, the entire joint is replaced. Similarly, during a partial hip replacement surgery, our surgeons only replace the damaged component. Our hospitals also offer anterior hip replacements. This approach uses an incision on the front of the hip, so surgeons work around muscles instead of cutting through them.
Additionally, we offer portal-assisted total hip arthroplasty. This unique, advanced procedure lets us access the hip from a higher location of the body, minimizing damage to the nerves and allowing you to heal even faster.
Knee replacement
Knee replacement surgery, or knee arthroplasty, restores your knee joint's function and alleviates discomfort. It involves resurfacing or replacing damaged parts of the joint. We also offer total and partial knee replacements.
Shoulder replacement
In total shoulder replacement surgery, your shoulder's ball and socket components are replaced with metal or plastic implants. In a partial shoulder replacement, the damaged ball component is replaced with a prosthesis and your original socket remains in place.

We provide post-surgery care through our physical therapy and rehabilitative care programs. Our certified physical and occupational therapists will create a personalized regimen to get you back on your feet as quickly and safely as possible. Our teams will also help coordinate your post-discharge recovery when you return home.
