Jesse Ellis, RN at HealthONE Swedish holds his DAISY Award.

At HCA HealthONE Swedish, we believe extraordinary care goes beyond clinical expertise—it's about compassion, connection, and the little things that make a massive difference. This is the heart of the story of Jesse Ellis, RN, who was recently honored with The DAISY Award.

Jesse was nominated by his patient, 82-year-old Geri M., who had undergone multiple surgeries and was struggling with severe, debilitating nerve pain. While Jesse's prompt actions to manage the pain were exceptional, what truly set him apart was his remarkable dedication to Geri’s well-being outside the medical scope.

Geri noted that while recovering, she had lost many of her "tech skills" due to the pain, specifically struggling with forwarding text messages to family. Jesse didn't just care for Geri's physical needs; he took the time and showed patience to teach her this skill, empowering her during a vulnerable time.

Geri describes Jesse as "most compassionate" and someone who "totally understood how my severe pain affected me." She concluded her nomination by stating, "The world needs more RNs like Jesse. I value the time he cared for me, the wisdom he shared, and the wonderful care he gave me. I highly recommend him as extraordinary and feel he should be awarded at the highest level."

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Jesse Ellis for embodying the spirit of extraordinary nursing. His story is a powerful reminder that sometimes, the greatest healing comes from unexpected acts of kindness and patience.
