A new study suggests the medication may improve life expectancy and lower costs for people with T2D.

“The value of adding weekly semaglutide will save medical costs in the long run, not to mention adding quality years of life to these patients,” says Frank Chae, M.D., bariatric surgeon with HCA HealthONE Denver Center for Weight Loss and Bariatric Surgery in Colorado, who was not involved in the study. For instance, “reduced incidence and delayed onset of renal failure will lower costs from need for prolonged dialysis and renal transplant surgeries.”
