Michael Snyder, MD, the medical director of the Bariatric Surgery Center at HCA HealthONE Rose and FuturHealth’s in-house obesity specialist, explains that there’s limited data on GLP-1s for use in humans during pregnancy. Furthermore, “animal studies suggest potential risks such as fetal growth restriction, pregnancy loss, and skeletal abnormalities at higher doses,” he explains.
