When a loved one is in the ICU, every moment is filled with uncertainty. For Jo and her family, those moments were made more bearable thanks to the extraordinary care of Erin Tillquist, RN.

Nominated by Jo’s daughter, Desiree Coscia, Erin’s DAISY Award story is a powerful reminder of the impact a nurse can have — not just clinically, but emotionally and spiritually.

“My mom lights up every time Erin visits,” Desiree shared. “She takes the time to explain what’s happening and talks to my mom directly. She connected with her on such a beautiful level.”

Erin’s compassion, communication, and ability to see the person beyond the patient helped Jo navigate one of the most terrifying times in her life. Desiree credits Erin’s presence and care as a key reason her mother made it through surgery.

“I know, myself, I will never forget her warmth and the comfort she provided by being such an excellent nurse.”

At HCA HealthONE Swedish, we are proud to celebrate nurses like Erin who embody the heart of nursing — compassion, connection, and courage.
