A doula is a non-medical professional who assists expectant parents emotionally and physically through pregnancy, labor and childbirth. A doula serves as a companion, support person and even a birthing coach for laboring mothers.

Rose is proud of our Rose Doulas, a staff of credentialed birth doulas who are fully incorporated into the Rose Labor & Delivery team of caregivers. Rose Doulas use their experience to provide emotional and physical support during one of the most amazing times in life.
What is a doula?
Rose Doulas offer emotional and physical support during labor and childbirth to both you and your birthing partner.
What a Rose Doula does
Using relaxation techniques such as massage, touch, aromatherapy, visualization, optimal positioning, and breathing patterns, doulas are supportive during both medicated and unmedicated births. Doulas do not replace a birth partner but rather assist you and your partner in having the birth experience you desire. Rose Doulas also provide support during Cesarean births. Rose Doulas also provide support during Cesarean births.

Selecting your labor doula
While you have many options to choose a doula in Denver, there are unique benefits to working with doulas who are credentialed with Rose Medical Center/Rose Women’s Hospital and have specific privileges at our facility. Credentialed doulas are familiar with all the offerings at Rose Babies, including standard practices and available comfort measures for your labor and delivery stay. If you deliver via a Cesarean Birth, only a Rose-credentialed doula can support you in the operating room along with your partner. Rose-credentialed doulas are considered an important part of your care team and work closely with our doctors and nurses to support your experience.
