Aurora, Colo. — HCA HealthONE Aurora has been recognized by the Lown Institute for outstanding social responsibility, receiving an “A” grade on the 2025-26 Lown Institute Hospitals Index. This honor places the hospital among the best in the nation at serving its patients and community, according to the healthcare think tank.

HCA HealthONE Aurora earned an “A” grade in the additional categories of value of care, patient outcomes, clinical outcomes, inclusivity, and cost efficiency. According to the Index, the hospital ranked in the top 5 in Colorado for clinical outcomes. These are independent rankings of more than 3,500 hospitals nationwide and hospitals do not apply or pay to be listed.

“HCA HealthONE Aurora has a long history of caring for our community, and that includes the patients who visit our hospital as well as our neighbors in Aurora,” says Scott Rausch, HCA HealthONE CEO. “This designation from The Lown Institute is a testament to the collective efforts of many—physicians, nurses, case managers, our community engagement team and volunteers—who work tirelessly to create healthier tomorrows.”

The Lown Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility is the only ranking to combine metrics of health equity and value of care alongside patient outcomes, for more than 2,700 acute care and 800 critical access hospitals nationwide—offering a holistic view of hospitals as total community partners. In the sixth annual rankings, the 2025-26 Lown Index evaluates hospitals on over 50 measures including novel metrics such as community benefit, racial inclusivity, and avoidance of overuse. Data sources include Medicare fee-for-service and Medicare Advantage claims, CMS patient safety data and hospital cost reports, and IRS 990 forms, among others. Full methodology can be found on the Lown Index website.
