Colorado's FAMLI leave to add more paid time off for NICU families

Families with children in the NICU will be eligible for up to 12 more weeks of paid time off starting in 2026.

For parents with children who already “graduated” from a NICU stay, and for the doctors who treat NICU patients currently, it’s a welcome support for the future families in that situation.

“When families walk through the door, this is the last place they thought they would be when they heard they were pregnant,” said Dr. Jennifer Zank, Medical Director for the NICU at HCA HealthONE Rocky Mountain Children’s at Presbyterian St. Luke's.
