Born with Polycystic Kidney Disease, Bob Ellis knew that one day he would have to undergo a kidney transplant. The past two years, Bob’s family and friends noticed his health was rapidly declining. He was losing color, napping more and slowing down — he desperately needed a kidney. His brother urged him to start a living donor campaign that included events and a social media push. Despite the fact that many were interested in helping, it was Bob’s neighbor and good friend Lanna Hummermeier that came through in the end. It’s been a year since the successful operation at HCA HealthONE Presbyterian St. Luke's and both Bob and Lanna and doing amazing. Bob’s color has returned and he is feeling better than he has in years.
